Deputy Director General (Crop Science) visiting DWR on 31st October, 2007

The newly appointed DDG (CS), Dr. P.L. Gautam visited Directorate of Wheat Research, Karnal on 31st October, 2007. He visited the DWR Museum as well as the laboratories of the Directorate. He congratulated all the staff for the work done by the Directorate.


Hon’ble MoA Sh. Sharad pawar - 21st April, 2006

Sh. Sharad Pawar ji, Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture, Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs, Government of India visited the Directorate of Wheat Research, Karnal on 21st April, 2006. He was accompanied by Dr. Mangala Rai, Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR and Sh. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Chief Minister, Haryana. Member of Parliament, Sh. Arvind Sharma and Member of Legislative Assembly, Smt. Sumita Singh were also present.

The dignitaries viewed the various modern wheat production technologies which included high yielding wheat varieties, various resource conservation technologies like zero tillage, bed planting and rotary tillage, the deployment of rust resistance genes and modern biotechnological approaches for gene pyramiding for disease and quality traits.

Delegates of 2nd International Rice Congress – 13 October, 2006

The delegates of 2nd International Rice Congress visited DWR, Karnal on October, 2006 and were shown the rice crop at DWR Farm as well as various machines of resource conservation technologies. Dr. Tajuki Sasaki, a renowned rice scientist, NIAB, Tasukuba Japan was also present.
